11/22/63 By stephen King, first time I have read a SK book, might try another of his!
Well I'm a huge Umberto Eco fan

Was forbidden to buy Prague Cemetary (Christmas Pressie) Really looking forward to reading that now - I hadn't thought there'd be another as he's nearly 80.

I'm being strict with myself and finishing Sommerset Maugham's "The Razor's edge" before starting that.
A couple of unusual ones you might be interested in, by Yoko Ogawa. Very Japanese, but beautifully translated.
The Housekeeper and the Professor.
Hotel Iris
re-reading Saki
meant to add gently amusing, but that is only one book among many read this year. too many to list.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the Millennium series.
No new ones really - Jo Nesbro is a bit longwinded but OK. I've been re-reading the Hobbits. At the mo Peter Robinsons books.
O'Henry's short stories. So varied and each one interesting.
The Kite Runner.-Khaled Hosseini
A thousand splendid suns.- "
Secret Scripture.- Bernard somebody
The Distant Hours -Kate Morton
To name but a few.
Herman Hesse - The Glass Bead Game.
i have just finished a great book called "So That's Why They Call it Great Britain: How One Tiny Country Gave So Much to the World"
Linwood Barclay - Too Close to Home
Stephen King - 11/22/63
Terry Pratchett - Snuff

I'm looking forward to reading Conqueror by Conn Iggulden
Breakfast of Champions - Kurt Vonnegut

Loved it so just started Slaughterhouse 5!
I'd recommend James Ellroy's American underworld trilogy - American Tabloid, The Cold Six Thousand and Blood's A Rover (especially the last). If you can survive the shock to the system of reading the first chapter of American Tabloid the rest is compulsive stuff, or at least it was for me.

And Ulysses by James Joyce
'The Hotel New Hampshire' and 'The World According to Garp' both by John Irving have never been beaten in my eyes.
Many have come close though.
