Don't know if this has been done on here but if not please feel free to sign this on line petition.

Sergeant Matthew Telford of the Grenadier Guards was promoted to that rank in June 2009.

In November of that same year, Sergeant Telford was one of 5 British soldiers killed when a rogue Afghan policeman opened fire on them.

His wife and family will only receive a Corporal's pension since he only held his rank of Sergeant for less than a year.

However, he was killed on operations by the enemy whilst wearing three stripes of a Sergeant on active service.

Please sign the petition below to support a change in the rules that deny a hero’s widow the pension she deserves.

Thanks boxy. With a bit of luck he might make it a sticky DT.
My name has been added to the end of the list jan x

Thanks dot. It's nice to see that a Brigadier has signed too.
Mine too. x
The Brigadier is a quite well known author of military history, and there's a squadron leader signed up too.
I'm on there and forwarded it to my addressbook
ditto
Done and dusted Jan and thanks for bringing it to my notice

Thanks all. I hope he returns safely soon bella.
Signed.

This has to be changed.
I transferred stores in October, only tremporarily at first, but then after 2 weeks, cos I was so good, the area manager wanted me to stay there, and so they have given me a 2000 a year rise to cover the extra travel, i am due an annual bonus this month, it is paid as a salary pro rata percentage , I qualified in the last store with my old salary, i get the bonus based on my new salary that only started from 1st November, and I only work in a shop! Sorry to be so longwinded, but the mind boggles at injustice

Sorry dot didn't come back last night, fell asleep. It's a shame that it seems that the Army don't treat their personnel as well as some shops. At least it seems the petition is increasing in signatures really quickly.
I have forwarded this to my friends and also put it on my Facebook page.
Signed and forwarded - thanks for posting
Well this is a very good rule isn't it:

It stops people getting promoted and being careless in the first year

It must save the MOD a significant amount of money that is needed to waste elsewhere

And it shows the MOD don't care about looking insensitive and stupid
.
I have just signed the petition - thanks for bringing it to our notice wouldn't have seen it otherwise
I expected this thread to be well up towards a 100 posts by now TBO. best keep it in the recent posts box, or get the ed to make it a sticky
