Are there any plans afoot to reinstate the PM facility? I do hope so.

So do I. I missed it last time they had it. It must have been when I did a disappearing act.
what was it, please?
Box, glad I am not the only one!!
private messages?
You use to be able to send each other private messages.
Question Author
You disappeared ummmm? Was it intentional?

Boxtops, it was a facility that enabled us to speak privately with other ABers without giving our personal email addresses. I'd really like to see it reinstated.
Ah, I see - instead of having to share the odd email address as happens now. Was it not open to abuse though? - I can see the nice side of it, but can imagine what could happen if the weirdos started on you privately, nobody else would know?
Yeah it was intentional. I was having a really hard time (my Uncle died and 2 days later my Dad was given 6 months to live) and I found I couldn't be nice to anyone on here so stopped using it. Don't think I came back on for over a year.
Then you should be able to block users you don't like and if anyone give you grief, report them and they are banned?
Ive never know that, probably in my time off here,
(due to a particular idiot that appears to have thankfully vanished)

but yes it could be very useful.
Question Author
No, it wasn't open to abuse. For example, I'd send you an invitation, and if you accepted, then we would be able to send each other private messages. If you declined, that would be the end of the story. No private contact.
Yes, I agree naomi, PM's were a good facility.
Question Author
Oh, I see ummmm - but I have to say I'm pleased you eventually reconsidered.

Ratter, don't let the bu&&ers get you down. :o)
Thanks :-)
They're not quite afoot. We have some basic usability and visual changes to roll out first of all.

All the best,

Spare Ed
PM's were allowed on a site I used some tears ago. One big problem with them was certain users would privately plot against an individual and get the cyber bullying thing going..........not nice.
Question Author
Thanks Spare Ed. I look forward to the changes being completed.

McMouse, but that can happen by other means anyway. Lots of people here seem to be friends on Facebook, just as an example, so what's to stop them using that to plot to bully someone on AB?
They can do that on MSN McMouse.
I missed this feature... But it sounds like it would be a good idea. There are a lot of AB friends on here.

I have been here a while and have never seen it but I leave a lot =)
I know two people who'd rather like to use it.... actually it would be quite useful
