Option to delete or edit your own posts.

I would like to see the option on the new AB to delete/edit our own posts.I appreciate it may be difficult to implement but many other forums I visit manage it.

I was very surprised to see my posts on google and became quite worried who may see them. I know now that the net is vast but still would like the option as you have stated and prefer to remove my posts until such time when hopefully I may be able to write a helpful post with positive results!

I'm not worried about any questions or answers I post being accessible by anyone Googling as most folks I know already know I post here (and they know my username),I can understand why some may be upset or worried by that :)
It was more for the times when I make spelling mistakes,and the odd time when my answer comes across wrong and I would like to reword it.lol

I can see what you mean Daffy, but it would make the thread look a bit odd if people were allowed to delete their answers.
You can see how strange it looks sometimes when a poster is banned. It sometimes looks as if one person is arguing with themselves.

You can edit before you post. It would be wrong to let people post abuse and then delete it very quickly.

You would get someone posting, "You ar a f***ing idiot", someone else replying, "s0d off" then the original poster changes it to "Hello everyone", making the 2nd poster look a fool.

It won't work.

Susa,I know what you mean,but as it already looks odd when folks are banned it would not really be any different if the post was deleted.It could be replaced with a notification saying "Post deleted by author" or something similar.

Barry,if the person deleted their abuse it would save the moderators having to do it,also it would no longer be there to offend the victim of said abuse.

squarebear,it works perfectly well on all other forums that use the system and have for many years.The post once edited has a notation placed within it to say "Edited by author".

It would also be nice if, as the OP, you were able to delete abusive posts on your own threads. I kind of choose to refuse...

I have posted about this before, when I was being stalked by someone with multiple aliases.

That is a good idea NoMercy!
Or at least have the option to report answers to your own question,it would stop the shenanigans that used to occur when anyone could report any answer,some people just reported every post of someone they didn't like until that person got banned.

Who really cares that much about spelling!! sometimes I type so quick it comes out looking a right mess, but I couldnt give a t0ss and its only sad people that would pick you up on it. And as for answers coming across wrong then just explain.

You should be able to edit/delete your own posts if you wish. Also, the topic starter should have the power to edit and delete not only the initial question but every post made after.

Hi Leg. The person who was abusing me months ago now appears on the GMT under another alias. She has also appeared on here today under an alias that she hasn't used for ages. But as long as she doesn't abuse me, I see no reason to expose her. I couldn't give a monkeys what she wants to call herself, just as long as she stays out of my way.

Yes, Daffy, it is a good idea. Apparently it is mayhem on here at weekends with the trolls abusing everyone. If the OP could just delete those abusive posts with a simple click of the mouse, there might be a cessation to all this nastiness.

Terrible no mercy.I also have 1 or 2 determined stalkers is all i can call them.The editor seems either uninterested or just unwilling to do anything about them.

Deleting posts should only be done by the Editor. too many people would be deleting others posts willy-nilly and there would only be one or two people posting anything worth reading.
