Let me try again. The first time I pasted the address from another page, this time I'll type it in.

Yey...it worked that time. Thanks for your help Fakeplastic.
They are all clickable links on my computer apart from Wraith's second post with the space in the centre of the domain name.
Dear Indie, I'm obviously too old for this game now. Having got the whole html business sorted out, I'm now utterly confused, as they've moved the goalposts! OK, I can see the bold/italic etc right at the top of the block I'm writing in and I know that the 'clickable link' works. But have we permanently lost the 'click here' (HREF)  link capability? Are colours back to the old 'font color' system? What the heck is going on?

Hello Quizmonster - I think we've lost all HTML capabilities, so there will be no more "click here"s for the time being. The only formatting we can do is what's listed above in the "text editor" (the bit that appears above the box you type in). The colour is achieved by clicking on the A next to the U (underline). The other options are just left/centre/right/full alignment, numbered lists, bullet points, outdent and indent.

Obviously posting really long links is going to look awful. The only way round it that I've thought of is to use a site like http://tinyurl.com - all you need to do is paste (Ctrl and V) your long link into the big box on the page and click the magic button. After the site's done its trick, come back to this site and paste the new, shorter link. It works fairly well.

You're most kind, Indie. I remember you referred some time ago to the 'tinyurl' system but - as I'd mastered the 'href' approach - I never did get round to trying the former out. Might have to now.

AB Ed Earlier today, I provided what I thought was a clickable link to a previous AB answer-page and, though it came out in the correct bluish colour, it didn't work. Links to other websites, though, worked just fine. So, can't we refer back internally any more?

Wouldn't it be a good idea for you to create an always-available 'Instructions' page on how to use the site, given all the changes? Surely that would help newcomers, too. (So, this is a 'suggestion' as well as a 'thank you' to Indie and a general query.)

AB Editor, for the next round of improvements:

Perhaps something similar to the Dreamweaver system, where you can highlight text such as "click here" and enter the URL in a box in the text editor area, to make the "click here" a link??

That would be a great idea zgma. It seems to be a bit hit and miss at the moment when I post links. Thanks for the tip about tinyurl IndieSinger, I'll give that a try.

Indie

I've just   tried to post a link in the Music section using that  tiny site, but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Cettie - I just found what I think is the thread you're referring to (is it this one: http://tinyurl.com/4x3pz ?) and your link works perfectly well on my computer.

Thanks for looking Indie but there's no little hand on my computer.

It's so annoying QM, spent ages teaching me the HTML now nowt works - except the pretty words!
