You can't stop it, but you can make it go into a dedicated spam folder that you can check periodically so that it doesn't clog up your inbox.

If you use Outlook for your email, try Mailwasher:
http://www.mailwasher.net/
Many on here recommend it.

Personally I'd recommend Thunderbird, since it has a great bayesian spam filter built in:
http://www.mozill.com/thunderbird

Or do you use some other web-based email system?
Yvonne, two things

1) NEVER reply to spam e-mail. All this does is let them know your e-mail address is live, making it ever more valuable so you will get MORE spam e-mail.

2) The reason that they put loads of funny writing at the top is to try to fool the spam e-mail filters.

Many people run programs that search e-mails for words like "Viagra", or "free" or "get rich quick" and so on.

To get round these programs people write all sorts of strange words at the top of the e-mail in the hope that it will still get through the spam filters

I am afraid we all have to live with spam, if I could only get my hands on the ba5tards.
