This has been suggested numerous times and the AB Editor agrees it is a good idea. But nothing yet!

It is so frustrating to answer questions only to find that the reply is irrelevant because the person asking the question lives in a different country to me!

Equally frustrating is to receive an excellent answer that solves my problem - only to find it is not applicable in the UK.

This is a great site, but could be greatly improved by this small thing.

i know ethel I'm sure of the problems in the world this requires immediate attention, i find myself awake at all hours wondering just where did that poster come from on ab? was he from a mud hut in peru or on the frozen tundra of siberia? i feel my own life would be greatly enriched if i gained this knowledge.

I think I love you, turkey bob. :)

Hi Ethel - sorry it's late, been out all day & only just got in!

I have also requested a Country of Origin facility several times on here, one of which is below:

Hi Smudge - hope you've had a good time!

I did see your earlier posts but they were over a year ago.

And still nothing. :(

I have just realised I can rate my own posts.

Got to laugh.
I would suggest it is better that the person asking the question indicates point of origin, thus leaving the choice to the answerer who then can remain anonymous.

perhaps the site should have UK written on it somewhere as it is predominately a UK site but anyone from another country would be aware that they are likely speaking to a uk person and adjust their reply.

i would agree with hard@it though

Um...left hand.. top..!!! uknetguide(:o)

doh! me and my big mouth!

although, i've been on here about 4 years and never noticed it so perhaps is should be more prominant

I think the dot co dot uk helps as well.

Personally I don't think it matters what country someone is posting from, if an answer or a question is not relevant to a country then this can be pointed out within a thread and perhaps an alternatove response can be given.

I think AB works just as well as it is without the need to look like every other forum in cyberspace, with emoticons, LMAO/PMSL/GSOH ing and unique sign offs. I like the anonyminity (say that after a tipple) that AB provides and if someone wishes to reveal their personal informatio that is up to them.

Setting such 'standard' offerings as a comon format, just makes AB less unique.
