Would it be possible/useful to allow users to edit their posted questions with updates and corrections, rather than having to post another question, or add an 'answer' to the original?

I completely, totally, 100 percent,absolutely agree with you. I have often posted a question and then realised I have made a mistake and it can be quite embarrasing(probobly spelt wrong).

i can see your point but i think the ability to edit could lend itself to abuse of the system leaving questions making little or no sense by removing important parts of the original... even well intentioned editing could affect subsequent reading of the thread as people may have made ref to the pre edited comment etc.

I see what you mean, undercovers, but what I had in mind would be to leave the original, but append the correction/update, e.g.,

Is it true that he eats, shoots and leaves?

* correction *

Is it true that he eats shoots and leaves?

ahhhh now thats different... yes i like that (and your correction example) a lot. good thinking
Great suggestion and I do agree that we should implement the same sort of editing function we do for Questions. This is one of those things we are looking to implement, resources permitting.
