P.S. Shall be thinking of you at 3.00am this morning while I am also the only person in the neighbourhood with a light on !!
Sorry gessoo to hear about William but at least he is not in pain now ,I know you are because we went through the same thing with our Sooty but he will always be an enriched part of your life .God Bless .

gessoo so sorry to hear your news. Of course you feel sad, you wouldn't be human if you didn't. Despite your sorrow, you did the last good thing you could for William and stayed with him till the end ((hugs))

Morning all from a very chilly Ibiza. Many thanks for all the Barry links, I have enjoyed them all.

Gessoo hope you are feeling better today.

Hello folks. An unusual weekend visit for me. Thanks again to all of you for your kind thoughts. It was horrible without William this morning. He had a very distinctive miaow, which sounded just like "mu-um" and when my son was young I often thought it was him shouting for me, as did our friends and neighbours. Our other two cats are much quieter, and in fact Alice sounds like a mouse squeaking. You can imagine how I hated the quiet this morning.

And the Dolly,Jude,Smudge etc. bug has finally got me!!! Well, I might as well get everything over and done with at once! More Southern Comfort definitely needed today.

Have the house to myself, the menfolk have gone looking at old cars- if they bring another one back here I shall swear. It's nice to have a large plot of land, but it's beginning to look like a scrap yard!! Good job nothing is visible to our only three neighbours.

Late new year's resolution:

Porridge and honey for breakfast, fruit and yoghurt for lunch and a normal evening meal, but smaller portion. I already drink loads of water. This is how I feel today:

gessoo!

Gessoo we are so alike, my cat used to say mama, especially when she wanted something, in fact people used to come to hear her speak.

Well hello everybody. Here comes another Saturday when I'm eagerly looking forward to another thrill packed match from Derby County Ha Ha!! I know they're rubbish at the mo but I just have to listen. I think it's because I remember the good old days and live in hope!!!!

Been to my sister's this morning for my cuppa and Birds blackcurrant cream cake. Loverly. Really tidied up all through and thought I'd just nip in for a few words while my lunch is cooking. then I'll settle down for the match. I bet you all don't believe me do you but it's true. (Oh Noooo they all groan must be mad)!

Going out tonight to a local pub where there is a band on. My friend and I are going for a Rock and Roll session. I seem to be getting some of my energy back after my virus thank goodness.

Keep your chin up Gessoo not forgotten you.

Morning, oh sorry Afternoon all - just popped in while I have a snack.

I wondered whether you'd be feeling low this morning gessoo, the first few days are awful aren't they? Like there's a big gap. Sorry you're not feeling well either - hope it doesn't drag you down for too long.

It's bitterly cold here again & the sky looks very heavy - hope they don't get snowed on at Pride Park Jude. I think you should be down there doing some cheerleading!! Here's a snippet for you - my ex father in law (now no longer with us) played for them in the 50s.

Vinny is that you on the Biddycombe webcam with your surfboard?? Hope you've not been on the sprouts - you could turn out to be jet propelled.

Afternoon all.Hope your not feeling to down gessoo.

Oh dear,Derbys down by 3 goals already...!!and they only kicked off 16 minutes ago..hehe...

Question Author

morning Vinny, gosh I bet that woke you up in a hurry!

mild wet february filldyke day here in Hampshire, I am still in my jammies and watching the birds...(sigh) suppose I'd better go get dressed, catch youse later

Same here folks..persisting with rain ..mind you we do need a drop, we have had hardly any since the new year.
Hope you are feeling a litle better Gessoo.

They've got A taste of Honey in todays paper Vinny. Can you chuck a bun in my direction ! I could kill for a fry up.

Don't tell Robinia ..I am still in my nightdress too!

Have a good Sunday everyone, love to all from poor starving Shaney xx

Evening all - had a busy weekend, shopping & visiting family. Horrible day today it didn't stop raining. I had to wear my yellow pacamac - it was a bit mouldy I wish I'd dried it better last time I wore it.....& all the rain ran down my rain hat & under my chin - think I'll have to lather on the nivea tonight.

Hope you enjoyed the film, it's a good one that Vinny. I've got the book somewhere, it was my mums favourite 'cos she grew up in Nottingham and we had brilliant times visiting grandparents & running up & down the entries at the back of the terraced houses.

What's all this I see about biddies sneaking in their wincy pj's & nighties? It must be against health & safety regulations. Shouldn't the ovens be warming up by now for Dolly's night shift or there'll be no toast for breakfast?

Oh please don't mention toast Robinia.. I shall only have to lather it with butter !!
It's been a dreary day here..rain all day.
I hope you get your pacamac dried out !

Gessoo...on my diet sheet honey is forbidden !
It contains cholesterol apparently.I make my porridge with Oatley milk (no cholesterol) and chop a banana in it.

Goodnight all ...off to drink a pint of water to stave off the hunger pangs. Woe is me !!

Good morning, Shaney. Thanks for telling me about honey! Actually, my cholesterol was OK, but now there are new recommendations is apparently isn't. I make my porridge with soya milk as I can't stand milk (makes me feel ill) and also sweeten with sultanas (which are fattening!!). I shall now omit the honey.

Have an absolutely dreadful cold, one of the good old fashioned variety which I haven't had for years!!! Unfortunately this weekend we have received some sad news about one of our oldest and dearest friends (a lady who feels like a mother to me) who has very little time left with us. I want to be with her but it is impossible because she is a long way away.

Dreary day again weatherwise. I must attempt to get some jobs done as have spent most of the weekend huddled up on the settee with a tissue box and a packet of paracetamol!

Noticed this morning how much growth the spring bulbs have made over the last few days! Have suddenly realised it's nearly March and I have missed most of the winter by being so immobile. Spent an hour or so yesterday looking at holidays on the Algarve, an area I really love.

May see you all later - hope you are all OK. xxxx

Question Author

shaneystar are you on tablets for cholesterol? Not to disagree with your doctor, but one of the consultant docs at work who is a complete health nut has told us that the research says that going from a deep fried everything diet to living on salad can only reduce your cholesterol by 2 points at max. Apparently dietary cholesterol is not the thing that furs up our arteries, its the excess cholesterol that our body produces that does the damage.

He reckons that the way to reduce cholesterol is to eat a healthy diet and lose weight rather than particularly a low cholesterol one. He is a consultant in elderly care medicine and a bit of a whizz.

I can find the research for you if you are interested?

Its really hard for GP's to keep up with all the latest stuff. My Mum is diabetic and had to have a stand up argument with one of the nurses at her practice about what diabetics should and shouldn't eat....My mum is 86 and about 4 foot 6 tall....apparently it was quite amusing.

Morning Biddys, just love that film robinia&shaney.didnt get taste of honey, got the big sleep instead(wrong paper)and that's exactly what I did..fell asleep.Shaney...!!..I cant take anymore of your starvation regime..this is for you...

here Well its a bit glum out there today, but they said were getting sun for the next few days..are believe it when i see it.I Expect jno's stuck in some biddycave in the middle of nowhere..tracing the lost tribes of the biddy people...hehe...( :)
