They've missed my favourite from that list. Has to be 'Drop the dead donkey' for my all time favourite!
Take it with a pinch of salt because any panel that puts Fawlty alongside Father Ted and which puts Alan Partridge above Blackadder, Dad's Army, Fools and Horses and Porridge cannot be relied upon.
No. I can't stand Cleese or any of the Footlights Mob. They don't tickle my ribs. :-(
I can't think of a better one. I've seen every episode at least a dozen times now but they still makes me laugh out loud- something that rarely happens with TV sitcoms now. A few bits make me cringe though- a bit to OTT and bits may not be acceptable now for new shows in PC terms
I would of thought To death us do part and I't ain't half hot Mum should of been in the list.
But they are not, retro. I wonder why! :-)
Father Ted would probably have got the nod from me as my favourite. Impossible really to say objectively which is the “best”.
Fawlty Towers and The Good Life are my joint favourites of all time.
I love Fawlty Towers.
Not really - a bit too slapstick for me. I think the fact that there were only ever 12 episodes gave it a bit of an iconic status and a cult following. Probably a good idea to quit while they were ahead rather than run it into the ground like some comedies.
Suppose it depends who voted. FT was funny, especially the Manuel/Basil relationship but I thought Fools & Horses was funnier. Rising Damp was popular & used to make me laugh as well and it's not on the list. It's whatever floats your boat.
I've just been catching up with Dinnerladies and it still makes me laugh. Great writing from Victoria Wood and a stellar cast
Still Game is my favourite, then Early Doors. Can't abide Fawlty Towers but love Father Ted.
Still amazes me that they only ever made 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers!
no.
I'm with Cupid @ 15:46, Drop The Dead Donkey has to be my all time fave. Spent a weekend a few months ago binge watching every episode on You-Tube.
Faulty Towers WAS good but not THAT good.
Some classics in the list but mine ever really gets a look-in at these poles... 'Red Dwarf'.
I used to enjoy Surgical Spirits and So Haunt Me. Also everything with Derek Nimmo and Steptoe.
It's certainly in the best list, but I don't think one can define any specific one as "The Greatest".
Nah, for me it's definitely Only Fools.
