I like Black Books, Drop the Dead Donkey, Red Dwarf, Father Ted and actually Fawlty Towers, but so not a fan of Only Fools and Horses, it absolutely makes me cringe.

MM.. i don't recall getting offered a vote.
I know spath, I often wonder who all these people are that they ask! I've NEVER been asked ..
LOL it's funny isn't it..

The vote was by 42 'Experts' in comedy.
I mean.. if the 'poll' was based in Torquay, I wouldn't be suprised to see the result i did.

However, I think modern sit coms such as outnumbered, gavin and stacey, should be considered.

G&S was 3rd from last... shocking
An expert in laughing at things.. I think i could fill that role.

Who decides who these experts are?
Oh yes G & S, I loved that.
Writers etc... it tells you some of them in AOGs' link.
I've watched it more than once. What a fantastic family show that was.
I couldn't stand this...John Cleese does not even raise a smile for me and the story lines tedious...my dad like it..and Harry Worth and various others I did not find amusing but he would be 101 if he was still alive so I think there was a major generational thing going on!
It's one of them, I think. OFaH was brilliant and Blackadder even better.
Says who , how can it be ? -when what makes you laugh is an individual thing .

Yes i liked it but i wouldn't put it at the top of my list
I also like ( not in any particular order ) -

Blackadder
Dad's Army
Only Fools and Horses
Porridge
Rising Damp

Then you have the brilliant ( in my opinion ) comedy drama - Minder ( with the late great George Cole )

In my opinion it would be close between Only Fools And Horses and Fawlty Towers, Father Ted would not get anywhere close the other two.
Bang on in my opinion. Fawlty Towers, Blackadder then Only Fools. It Ain't Half Hot Mum was absolutely dire. Again, in my opinion.
It’s good, but I wouldn’t say the best ever.

Has The IT Crowd been mentioned?
I remember watching Only fools from the start when it was first aired, been a fan ever since. Years later when getting home from work or football and just chilling to the cheesiness that was 'The thin blue line' although not the greatest still way better than some in the list.
Let's face it, if we all shared the same sense of humour, there wouldn't even be a best and worst list, would there? My parents used to laugh at people like Arthur Askey and Mike and Bernie and i used to fear for their sanity. Then along came Monty Python and i swear my dad was thinking of calling the doctor out to sedate me.
As can be seen by the replies it's all a matter of taste.Re Fawlty Towers,I found the builders and the vase episodes funny but some of the others, especially the Germans, not funny at all.
I would have picked Blackadder Goes Forth, but Fawlty Towers is funny.
What do you expect to see from a Torquay bedroom window, madam? The Leaning Tower of Pisa? Sydney Oper House, perhaps? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past the window? That madam, is Torquay.
Well, I asked for sea view.
That is the sea madam, between the land and the sky.
