Since the new format, it seems to me that lots of threads (outside of Chatterbank and News, and possibly Jokes) are far more ephemeral than they were prior to the change.

Which maybe suggests possibly that the categories being more click-intensive to get results is a backward step.

I too think the categories that aren't openly listed are out of sight, out of mind. Not the best way to advertise all that The Answerbank offers.

I've used the site a lot less since the change over, I like the new look but if there's nothing interesting in 'Latest Posts' when I look in I go elsewhere.
They are not out of sight. It's just that some cannot cope with the sheer physical effort of scrolling to the bottom of the page.
I too have said that the other categories are OOSOOM

So well said anyone who agrees with me ;0)
Baldric, I tend not to look elsewhere as I did when the categories were listed clearly and easy to access.
On my PC there is a key marked 'End'. One gentle tap takes me to the bottom of the screen where all the categories are displayed in full. Voilà.
Drop down categories are my main gripe too, I use LP mostly but have taken to using the list at the bottom for a few mooches.
People seem to forget that on the old site the Topics list was only half visible anyway; to see all you had to scroll down, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Using your method JD, see if you can navigate to a thread I posted in 'politics' about 10 minutes ago
22 minutes ago actually
You can't as there are no sub categories down there.
Did you cheat JD?
Correct, Mamya. I cheated, I clicked on his profile.
'Using your method'?
Crossed ;-)
I was unaware that sub topics were not available at the bottom as I rarely, if ever, use them. To my mind Talbot's post would have been equally at home in News.
Far too many defunct or little-used sub categories too.
Celebrity Gossip?? Come on! There's no content in there, never has been as far as I'm aware and it's been established for months!
Don't lose that one - I tried to get a News thread moved there very recently :-)
