Hi Ed/spare/moderators.
I accept that there is a 'keep it nice' ethos here and I do my best to stick to the rules but do you *have* to nanny this place so much that threads are zapped and people are suspended so readily ?
Surely a little more 'let it run its course' lenience is not asking too much and a little less censorship will allow personalities/views be seen in all their true colous, warts and all.
I appreciate that you have to draw the line somewhere, but I have seen a lot of threads pulled that were crammed with fascinating insights, colourful and constructive viewpoints and several posters suspended summarily for reasons that seemed pretty innocuous to me (even though they may also conflict with my own views).
My suggestion: please give warnings if you think someone is spoiling the ship for a ha'pennyworth of tar rather than just deleting entire threads/suspending people.
Thanks.
Answerprancer.

But, Mark, how could that be? I was clearly making the whole thing up...

thanx mark
Mark, I just clicked on that last link you posted and an error message came up.

Is it just my computer playing up, do you think?
Works fine here Mrs C
How bizarre Sir. I get "Error. You cannot view this board".

Pah! Banned and he doesn't even know who I am. :o(
Me too.

AP. I do think that a warning would be a good idea, not sure how it could be implemented though.
Simple: "(username) YOU ARE SAILING CLOSE TO THE LIMIT, DESIST OR BE SUSPENDED". That kind of thing. Either that or just ban anyone who so much as farts and lets be done with it.

...and on that note.
I think the suspension is the warning: YOU ARE SAILING CLOSE TO THE LIMIT, DESIST OR BE BANNED.

I'm guessing the Ed is too busy to spend time interposing another level of mini-warning.
Would just like to point out i don't wear braces with hotpants, thank you

That's because there is enough of 'you' to keep them firmly in place, fluffy....:o/

I think Jno raises a good point there.

It'd be interesting to know, though, how many times one can be suspended before a ban becomes inevitable.
mrs c. i have wondered the same thing, !!!!!!!!!
Well I still favour my idea from long ago.....a huge fist springs out from the screen and bops the offender on the snoz. That'll make 'em think twice about breaking the rules.
i agree.

it seems the slightest thing and users flip and report and they comments removed too easily

unless someone is being utterly abhorrent, such as threatening or extreme racism etc, then it should be left for others to see what arceholes they are...

i think some deliberately make comments knowing they wont last long...perhaos if they knew they wouldnt be removed they wouldnt say them...

i personally quite enjoy and good scrap on here, so dont see why we should censored.
Can see what you mean joko, and to an extent I agree, however I usually favour the removal of posts that make the site look like its inhabited by imbeciles.

I personally find utterly childish rows and squabbles embarrassing beyond belief and i cringe to think what "outsiders" for want of a better word, think of the site, and of us when they see those kind of posts.
