Hi Ed/spare/moderators.
I accept that there is a 'keep it nice' ethos here and I do my best to stick to the rules but do you *have* to nanny this place so much that threads are zapped and people are suspended so readily ?
Surely a little more 'let it run its course' lenience is not asking too much and a little less censorship will allow personalities/views be seen in all their true colous, warts and all.
I appreciate that you have to draw the line somewhere, but I have seen a lot of threads pulled that were crammed with fascinating insights, colourful and constructive viewpoints and several posters suspended summarily for reasons that seemed pretty innocuous to me (even though they may also conflict with my own views).
My suggestion: please give warnings if you think someone is spoiling the ship for a ha'pennyworth of tar rather than just deleting entire threads/suspending people.
Thanks.
Answerprancer.

"which I understand to include removing posts."

Don't know where you got that idea from, especially as it has been stated by the Ed, Buenchico, Myself and B00 (the 3 publicly known mods) that this is not the case countless times.
Were you asking me if I was the one who removed your post Helen? As no, didn't. I didn't see it.
-- answer removed --
I've noticed that posts do get removed in the middle of the night, so either the Ed is working late or (more likely) he can access the site at home. But only the Ed (or one of his spares) can remove posts. Mods can't, Uncle Tom Cobbleigh can't. That means removing posts is limited to only two or three people, which suggests that it's being done fairly consistently.
You had an answer removed from one of my threads Redhelen? Couldn't have been the one rubbishing Sony - I mean I know you know my husband works for Sony, but not the hardware side, he works for Sony music...no, couldn't have been that one - it's still there.
^ que?
how many mods are there ?
if an answer's been removed you won't see who posted it, merciasounds. The only way is to memorise every post you see.... but quite honestly, you'd be better occupied preparing me a nice meal.
well, I make it 127, not including you, anne. Of course I'm having to read between the lines a lot.
No, mercia, that's not the thread to which redhelen is referring.

Please don't drag any old arguments onto this thread; this is a more 'general' thread.
I've never seen any indication as to whether there are many, or six, or three.
jno...You could well be right but I am hoping that the Ed(or a Spare) will now confirm matters once and for all. It is my opinion that if the Ed hasn't given the power to Mods for the removal of posts it then means that, if a mod doesn't consider the content of an answer or a question to be suitable for the columns of AB, he/she is in a position to suspend but not remove the possible offensive material.

Perhaps this is why we are seeing so many suspensions.!!

Ron.
rather than a "have a gripe" thread.
I think I once read that there are 9.
this could possibly challenge potterfans "the last person who posts...wins"

I am excited for AP
oh more than 9 mrs c. id think. but only 3 willing to admit being a mod !
Ahh, yes.....
Does that mean whoever makes the final post on the thread wins......or, whoever makes the final post 'and has never posted on the thread before' wins?
my count includes anyone who seems kind of masterful and authoritative and some who are just bossy.
on this thread the person that posts last, was right all along ;)
..but the mod can report something they consider offensive, ron, which then draws it to Ed's attention and he can do as he thinks fit.
