it's eating its breakfast at the moment!
Our local news occasionally gives us an update. Wish they would have a regular couple of minutes. Thank goodness for the web-cam.

It's a very fine sight to behold isn't it? (rhetorical question)

I'm surprised they haven't booted out the unhatched eggs - the wardens thought they would do that, in case of accident or infection. They are taking up valuable room in the nest!
Maybe the wee one (well, not so wee) will nudge them out at some point?
Boxtops, I look at his all the time. I have the webcam tab always ready and look at it very often. It seems to grow by the hour at the moment. It's fascinating.

I also regularly look at the Dyfi osprey webcam. The little osprey they hand fed is doing really well now. They have named it Ceulan.

Ah, Tilly, is that the one who fell out of the nest?
No, boxtops. The rangers took it out of the nest and hand fed it. There were three chicks and two died in the cold, wet weather. They intervened, took it out of the nest and hand fed it. It took a long time to get it to eat as it was so weak. Eventually they put it back and it began accepting food from the parents.

It's now five weeks old and they have named it Ceulan. Have a look. The pictures are so clear.

Lovely - I remember the story now, there was a link to it from the Lowes site. A very difficult decision for the rangers to make, but a happy outcome!
he's a whopper isn't he, boxy - all that lovely fish - won't be long and they'll all head off again - what'll we do for fun then !!
just had a quick look at dyfi - dark but he's doing well - I'm glad they intervened, in that situation the right thing to do I think

Baby Osprey is now named Blue44, and has been ringed with a satellite tracker - exciting times to come, when he fledges and flies off! http://scottishwildli.../things-to-do/osprey/
I posted something about this yesterday boxtops, in twitching and birdwatching.. Have you read the blog and seen the photo of him?
Question Author
Ah, I didn't see yours yesterday Tilly (I don't often look in the topic headings). Yes, I've read the blog!
