I have rats under a shed close by and as they are interfering with me feeding the birds, I want to get rid of them. Has any one had any experience with the type of control which sends out a digital pulse, and would it work outside?

If you are putting the food for birds on the ground that is probably what has attracted the rats - place the food such that therats cannot access it.......and get some rat poison!
Ultrasonic pest deterents don't work and are a wast of money.
Save your money and buy some rat poison.

thank you to you both, ixion and BIGDOGY.
I don't really want put poison down as I have a cat, and there are more cats around.
Do you think it would work if I turned the hosepipe on down the holes?
"Do you think it would work if I turned the hosepipe on down the holes?"

It'd make them wet, that's about all. Rats are superb swimmers.
Local council came and put baited boxes down for me (free) - took one look at my bird feeder and said, "Oh ,I see you are feeding them!" -it took a few weeks because the rats are suspicious of anything new -but the man came back every week or so - and - for now - no sign of them any more!
I wouldn't bother buying poison either - I know you've said you don't want to - the stuff you buy from hardware shops, garden centres etc. are by and large ineffective.
Contact Environmental Services and get the pro's round.
RATTER15 is a pest exterminator at . Some pro advise is coming soon.
I do get rats in the garden now and then as I feed the birds. Afraid I resort to the old .22 air rifle. Lead poisining seems to sort them.............
get some ferrets!
Hiya, go to a farm shop if you have one in your area and buy "Neosorexa" put loads of the stuff down under your shed, don't worry about the cats, it will not affect them, modern poisons have no secondary affect. just put the poison in plastic bags and get the bags well under the she, the rats will soon open the bags. If you cant get Neosorexa, try and get one of the products containing difenacoum. The most important thing is to ensure you are not tight with it, put plenty down or the rats will become bait shy. Good luck
Do not use ferrets!! they will kill a ferret if it becomes trapped, hunting rats with ferrets is a sport of its own to be undertaken only by the brave and the stupid. Ive been there done that, harsh lesson learned! :-(
I think the best way to get rid of the rats is to call the pest control agency. Nowadays, they use some advanced kind of technology and with the help of them your home can be able to free from the rats and mice for sure.
