Peuf, peuf, peuf, le train arrive dans la station. The first words dans le first libre francais je ever read et je still remembre.
It must be Vuja De because I haven't been here before. Anyway what is a sallabanana?
Jamais vu ? Sure, and it's a weird experience.
I left my hometown in Geordieland in 1952, vowing never to return, but in 1982 I had to visit the town as part of my job. As I drove in, I knew my way perfectly and could still name every street, but it didn't look the same at all, Everything looked smaller, meaner and unfamiliar. Was this the same town ? Commonsense said yes, but my eyes said no.
After an overnight stay, I was glad to leave, to rid myself of a waking nightmare.
realising that, to make matters worse, the town was reminding me of a very unhappy childhood. Today, anything north of Tewkesbury is no-go land.
