I've had a pair of hedgehogs for a year and recently the male has been chasing the female in the garden and they have been mating at every second they can absolutely going at it hammer and tongs this was till yesterday when I noticed that the male hedgehog wasn't chasing the Female anymore which i thought was rather strange seeing that he was previously acting like a little spiky porn star and on further investigation I've definitely noticed that's walking with a slight limp and after even further investigations it appears that he has one of the females thorns stuck on his male member. What should I do as vets bills are very expensive but I can't stand seeing his poor little face screwed up in pain so should I get a magnifying glass and some tweezers and attempt to pull it out and then clean with dettol or is this a vet situation, also what kind of prices do vets charge for minor hedgehog injuries?
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Cover it it mud and bake in the embers of a fire - very tasty
Well there`s something you wont find in B&Q..DIY hedgehog penis thorn tweezers. Doubt if E Bay even has them.
Maybe they're called plonker pullers
Mrs O - just like Beggars Chicken if you wrap some vine leaves around before applying the mud.

As Beggar's Chicken ultimately honours the Chinese Emporer, I guess Beggars Hedgehog honours the Palace Pricks.
BTW, you said the hedgehog is walking with a limp - do his dangly bits trail on the ground?

Yes I seen them roasting them mrsoverall and to be honest they smelt horrible so I was never tempted.
Peapod the tweezers I have are really tiny ones from my swiss Army knife they're about the size of a matchstick

Hope your eyesights good. Those tweezers are mighty small.

I'll be okay as I have a steady hand and a giant magnifying glass with a light on a base with a flexible neck that i use for engraving jewelry.
Erm, and how do you propose to keep the hedgehog still while you ferret around his nether regions? i can't imagine he'll be too co-operative
What a ditherer, you should have had it done and finished by now. Take the Bull by the horns or the Hedgehog by the ? and get on with it.
thats what a vice is for............

Thanks all especially ljdksa as Sttiggywinkles have finally got back to me and can send someone out to me tomorrow morning so i'll let them see it as they said if I removed the thorn without any anesthetic it myself the pain/shock could kill it.
Thanks again all.
Amen.
hanman, poor little thing I'm glad someone is coming out tomorrow to deal with it. I am shocked at the amount of rubbishy answers you've had to put up with on here, you'll know better than to ask this clever lot on here again.Ron.
I'm going to post a hedgehog joke over in Jokes in a few minutes.

Thanks for the support Whiskeyron, I do understand that my thread may have seemed a little odd but these kinds of things happen in the animal world all the time so maybe some of the doubters need to get a pet themselves to see it first hand or just be a little more open minded.
St Tiggywinkles? But they are in Buckinghamshire, yet on the other thread you say you are in East Dereham!
