I don't since a woman snapped at me: " Do you think I'm a ****ing cripple?"
Haha! Great topic. Keep 'em coming and soon all the decent questions will be removed from the list. I hope that guy who wanted help with his central heating isn't annoyed!
Yes. It's good manners.
If they get to the door first, yes.
In the same way that a female should hold the door open for a male, if the situation is reversed.
Did he ask the question in CB?
Its always nice when it happens, but I wouldnt expect it. Same as I wouldnt let a door slam into the face of someone behind me
Nope but the CB posts have pushed his question off the page, almost as soon as he asked it.
I agree wholeheartedly with jack.

Do you know what really really annoys some users? Q&P's....some people put the answers up when one has just come out. That drives some of them insane and they have big fat fights about it.

You'd love it in there :-)
It is a good question actually

It will probably surprise people on here when I say that I hold doors open for females (and males for that matter), it's just common courtesy........although I do grumble to myself if they don't acknowledge me with a thank you

I also ensure my g/f walks on the inside of pavements too
Yes and did you know that if a man meets a lady of his acquaintance in the street and stops to chat - he should walk with her as it is bad manners to stop her
Oh, I don't go that far peri

I don't take my jacket off and place it over a roadside puddle so the lady doesn't get her shoes wet either
My OH tries to make me walk on the inside but I like to walk with people to my right. Don't know why..
yes, but you should hold open a door for anyone really.
you wouldn't look and think 'i'll let it go, it's a bloke' would you?
lotto lout michael carol once opened the door for me, I was gobsmacked
Yes, and visa versa. Has anyone ever held a door open for someone and they just walk through (as though you're the doorman) without any aacknowledgement.
I always hold doors open for people. I'd say that 25% don't even acknowledge the fact... to which I cannot help muttering, "You're welcome."
Courtesy costs nothing...in the same way it is polite to acknowledge a compliment gracefully and to appreciate it when someone does something nice however small.
I would even acknowledge the doorman.
I've walked out of a talking lift and thanked it. lol
