I've shared my home with dogs all my life but here's one i've never come across before. My eight year old Collie cross bitch has recently changed her bark ! Same frequency, same reasons but sounds different (almost is if she has a sore throat) She seems to be fit in every respect and is behaving normally---any ideas? Paul

Some times the bark changes as the dog starts to age, and it becomes a bit husky. If you are worried get the vet to check it out.
It could be something as simple as kennel cough (in which case she probably does have a sore throat) and no she does not have to have been in kennels to get it!

Best get it checked by the vet. If it is kennel cough it can be easily cured with antibiotics.

Any change in the bark should be checked out by a vet just to make sure that it is not anything serious affecting the throat.

Thanks all ! I've experienced kennel cough before and she's not showing any other symptoms.I have no qualms about a visit to the vets, i was just curious if anyone else had had a similar experience.I'll post the vets comments as and when. Thanks again,Paul.
