some of you may recognise the names. the new young un-neutered tom, ghost, has been here approx 5 days now. he is being nuetered tomorrow. he has not come face to face with the resident 14 year, neutered male, monsta. however, ghost keeps making these funny little whimpery mewing noises at monsta. they are having a paws under the door battle at the moment, nothing thats worrying me. i just wondered what the little noises mean? i really hope hes telling monsta he just wants to be friends and play. they sound very subservient noises to me, but dont want to assume im correct. anyone know cat-speak?

Hi Mandimoo, it's because he's lonely and wants to play. The best thing to do is leave them together, but keep an eye on them, there'll be lots of hissing and growling for a while, but they'll soon settle down. I have a 12 & 1 year old, and they love running about together now.
aaw sweet.. I reckon if the noises sound friendly to you then they are meant to be friendly noises! He senses another cat there and can probably tell what sex monsta is.. so wants to le him know he doesnt want the sht kicked out of him and he means no harm...

I expect the first introduction will be kitten being totally submissive and monsta either ignoring him or batting him with a paw. Try not to worry too much.... just dont leave them alone together til you are happy they wont fight.

All the best!!! You sound like you are doing everything right!
Mandimoo. Love the name you chose for the new kitten.
Hope all goes well with introducing him to Monsta. Schutz.
