Hello there. How old is the cat? Do the ears look as if they are going bald in patches, and is the skin on the patches white or very pale coloured? Or do the ears look as if they are made of black shiny skin, and the same all over with no bare patches. The reason I ask all these questions is that I had a little black smooth haired she cat, and she had black ears that were smooth black and looked as if there was no fur on them. My vet said he thought that somewhere in her ancestry there must have been an oriental type cat, because that's what oriental cats ears are like. Schutz.

Lucky is a rescue mog so about 5 years old ,
her ears now look shiny with no hair she is
not scratching , she has a vet check soon
so will mention it ..thanks for the info .
Hi, but are the ears still black? If so I think the vet will be able to put your mind at rest. Good luck. Schutz/
I was going to ask a similar question although my cat has been scratching her ears.I just put it down to hayfever as she is not scratching now but was quite badly the other day.If it had carried on I was going to speak to the vet but seeing as she stopped now and just has bald ears,I think I will leave it. But obviously if she starts again I will take her. Wonder what did cause it though or whether it was/is just hayfever...?
