This is a scaling problem - an elephant has a very slow resting heart beat and something weeny, like a pygmy shrew has a very high one. The actual relation is a power relation and I cant remember the index - weight raised to the power 1.4 possibly.

The other thing is that there isnt a point on my graph that says 'owl'

I reckon its 180 min-1 however NF may have much better info.
