When I converted my loft into an office we put an owl hole and nest box into the space above.
It's been there three years now and I check it at the end of the breeding season, so far no owls.
Tonight I had my celestial telescope stuck out of my window and after coming back from the loo, a barn owl was sitting on the end of the telescope with a field mouse in it's mouth. I sat at my desk, less than six feet from the owl and it just sat there looking at me. Eventually it flew away. I went outside and saw an owl fly out of our nest box. Success at last. I may try and put a camera in the box later in the year.

Bliss, Sam.....I'd say how lucky...but your efforts made the luck...xx
Close encounters with nature are wonderful, well done.

I was surprised that an owl would bring food back to the nest to eat it.
Any chicks should be long gone by now.
How lovely.
One of lifes affirming moments when you see wildlife so close up. You may feel differently if they use the nest hole...they make one hell of a racket.
