What a merchant banker!
Surely the fault is with the owners not the dogs?

lost the plot is a understatement jules pity someone does not lose him
As usual jules it's the dogs which get the blame and not the bad owners.
Two things shock me in this biased article:~
1.That someone with (supposedly)such a good education and inteligent mind as Giles Coren could write such a "rant",it doesn't deserve to be called an article.
2.That a publication of such standing(or had such standing?) as The Times could publish it!
The answer is, methinks, that Giles Coren labours under feeling he has to distinguish himself from his late father Alan.

Alan Coren could have written this piece wittily and tongue in cheek.Giles Coren's effort is like a very poor imitation of Jonathan Swift being satirical or his father being amusing.

Good grief !! whatever rattled his cage ?? hope they can keep a strong padlock on it !!
He has a point though. I am scared walking through parks etc with my 2 kids as all these supposedly nice dogs are let off the lead by their good owners who walk them. Two have jumped up at my son aged 3 to shoulder height, nasty Jack Russells and the owner proudly said '' they are fine, they wouldn't hurt him'' Off she trotted with 3 dogs to carry on terrorising all the other little children.

There is a snobbery now, if you haven't got what is deemed as a Chav dog, your dog is great. Not true.

I have even seen a brilliantly trained working dog Golden Retriever turn nasty and snarl.
Well first of all, I agree with Mr Veritas.
That was one of the worst pieces of journalism that I've ever read, and tomorrow, I shall probably write to the Times and ask them why they bothered to publish it. It surely got through without the editor noticing?!!
Dogs are, as owners do. You mistreat one, it turns nasty. Very simple really.
Some dogs are just nasty....end of.

As said previously and got shot down.....if you can't keep your pets on your property you shouldn't have them.

Why should people have to tip-toe thru dog crap in public places.
Surely you take your dogs for a walk Tamborine! If you don't that is downright cruel, all dogs need to socialise with other dogs and as for dog crap everywhere that's up to the owners to clear it up, the dogs have to go somewhere.
I disagree with the article and I can usually see the 'other side' of most arguments.

It is completely OTT and seems to be be confrontational just for the sake of it.

Many people dislike dogs, cats or even children - there are bad in good in each of the groups, but to seek that we eradicate all is a sign of a sad or sick mind.

I appreciate that everybody has the right to a point of view - but without tolerance of the view or opionion of others we will be going down a really slippy and dangerous slope.

Maybe we should eradicate journalists. :-)
Any journalist who refers to a child as "being torn to burger meat" should rethink their occupation! Thats disgusting! Who wants to think about that??
