A friend me asked today if budgies menstruate. I have no idea.

There was a tiny bit of blood in her cage this morning and this has happened previously. The budgie seems chirpy and happy and not at all unwell.

Is this blood cause for concern?

Thanks burnhal

I have emailed the links on to my friend. I realise now how little I know about birds.

Thanks for your help.
Birds don't menstruate. Some people believe that laying an egg is the same as menstruation but that is a myth also.

Beside damage to a feather, caged budgies often nibble too much off their toes and make it bleed a bit.
A tiny bit of blood very occasionally is of no concern.
