Well,we have always had two cats and we have litter trays for the nights as we keep them in then.
We have always had two litter trays because cats are fastidious creatures and I don't think they would use a tray if it had already been used.

Best to get another litter tray, especially as you are introducing a newcomer. If you just have the one tray you will probably find that your first kitten might refuse to use it and soil elsewhere.

Be prepared for animosity for a while as well. From experience I would say that they will work their differences out between them and eventually will live harmoniously.
Cats will use the same litter tray no problem. Cats show dominance by not burying their business afterwards. Normally one of the cats will not bury or leave it just outside the tray. GEtting two trays may not help, as the dominant cat will use both
Hi electric.. I have got three cats and they have two litter trays two who use the litter trays are indoor cats and very seldom venture out but my third cat does go out and very rarely uses the litter tray. I think you would be better with two they are very particular with toileting and this will give the new cat a bit more confidence.
My cat goes out and rushes in (crosslegged) to use the litter tray before rushing off out again!
