I'm no expert but it sounds like some sort of fungal infection. Your vet should be able to recomend a good dog shampoo or other treatent. Good Luck. Tbird+

Could be impetigo,which my puppy had for a couple of weeks-that was flaky,yellowy but I didn't notice a smell. A shampoo will surely help.

this sounds like scarpotic mange mites. this will need veterinary attention as strong bathin solutions will need to be applied that are only available from a vet
