I am looking to get a little dog and am not sure what breed will suit me, I lost my little dog 14yrs old last year.I was going to get mini dashoud but that is out so is Jackrussell I carnt have anything that is going to bolt down the rabbit holes, been there and done that when I was younger digging them out at night with the tilly light. So thinking maybe mini Poodle Yorkshire terrier or Bichon frise never had anything to do with these breeds. Would be pleased of your help. thanks Malonenora

well i'm no expert on dogs, but my girlfriend has a Cairn terrier which is an absolutely top dog, he is golden in colour and a real character and i havent had to dig him out of any holes so far.
poodles and bichon frise don't shed hair I understand.

We have pug, he is adorable but like having a 2 year old toddler, always looking for mischief but not naughty and brilliant with children.
Shih-tzus don't shed hairs. They are full of character. Great with children and are like little teddy bears. You have to remember, if you get a dog that doesn't shed hairs then it has to go to be clipped which can be expensive. Ours go every 8 weeks and it is 29 each.
hi,i have to say apart form our main breed which is the GSD our other little familly member has allways been a westie, they are so beautifull and full of character. They have a good lifespan of between 12 and 20yrs,ours was 19 when we lost her. However yes she did need clipping and a good wash on a reg basis.hope you get what you are looking for.Regards
If you fancy a dachshund, get a dachshund. If you worry about all the typical breed characteristics you'll never ever find a dog that suits.
I have a dachshund and a JR and have no problem with either.
Sure these dogs were initially designed to dig out badgers and rats and rabbits but times have changed as have the breeds. As they are no longer used as working dogs and aren't whipped into a frenzy by their owners on seeing vermin they react accordingly. I'm not denying that my dogs don't love to have a good run after squirrels or rabbits in the park but will come back when I call them.
With the right training you can get the dog you want.
Hi marlonenora,
My favourite place has many small pooches for rescue.....
Take a look and see if there's a way you can give one of the pups a good home :-)

sorry, just a quick note: They do very strict adoption procedures and it's like being interviewed at the spanish inquisition. We couldn't have a home check because of where we are so had to give 2 references on headed paper. We chose the doc and my hubbys boss :-)
Going back for a working holiday there in the summer....
why not get a yorkshire terrier my grandi used 2 av 2 kizzy n cassy they wer so adorable my grandad got another one after my grandi passed away called rosie but she was a bit to boystrus for my grandad so he gave her away i think they are the cutest small breeds of dogs but westies are very close runners up <:o)
The many tears rescue above have just got a two year old male mini poodle in, plus LOTS of other dogs desperately needing homes. Please, please everyone take a look!!
