On looking out at my garden today I spotted 3 fairly large birds that had distinct blue, white and grey colouring on their wings and the rest of their bodies were beige. Can anyone tell me what they are as i've trawled the internet with no luck or, is there any website I can post the pictures too as I managed to snap a few!
Thanks for reading

Almost certainly Jay's, britannia.

They fit your description and although fairly common in woodland areas, quite shy birds coming into our garden on rare occasions. Generally all we see is a flash of blue - or hear a loud squawk!
Would these be the birds?

What lovely photographs Cetti !!

I get jays in my garden all the time, I wish they would chase away their horrible guttural relatives, the MAGPIES !!
The others have beaten me to it. I'm sure they're Jays, and if you want to encourage them, they feed on peanuts and acorns amongst other things. But they're very shy - mainly woodland birds, I think, and often don't like coming too close to the house.

Thank-you so much for all your replies. Yes they were Jays it's so rare to find any other birds flying around our garden (apart from Magpies, Blue Tits and Robins) that anything else is an experience in itself! although we do have a regular appearance of a Woodpecker.
Thank-you all once again..
Michelle......
Jays are lovely birds Michelle although some considder them pests as they belong to the crow and magpie family.

They are very secretive birds but occasionally will spend several hours screeching at each other. I have about a dozen in the garden i work in and it can sound like the Amazon sometimes.

Enjoy

You're all so lucky with your birdy gardens. We used to get loads at the back when we had our dreaded leylandii. Now they're chopped down we don't get so many. I've not seen our little Robin this year either who normally lives at the front since we had that paved over. Arghh, what have we done?!
