I have 2 dogs that follow me everywhere about the house.I have noticed my 1 year old pup always walks up the back of my legs when i walk. Even when i go up the stairs. Its like she has to be touching someone at all times. I don't mind her doing this but im just curious as to why. She doesnt mind being on her own so im not sure if its a security thing.
Thanks.

You don't say what breed she is, I had a GSD that used to do the same thing to my partner. If he went to the loo she used to sit outside the door, if he went on the phone she used to move and sit virtually on his feet! She just wanted to be close to him, possibly to protect him and make sure he was OK at all times.

She was very maternal although she never had pups and I think it was something to do with her 'adopting' him!

I now have a male dog of another breed and he sits in a seperate living room from us (voluntarily) so I wonder if it is a female thing!

I also rescued a GSD bitch and one of the complaints was that she followed them round the house and it drove them mad!!!

I think it is quite a nice trait, and if she doesn't mind being on her own when you go out then I would just enjoy being adored!
I have seven dogs, who all follow me upstairs when I go to the loo. One of them always manages to nip round my legs before I sit down on the loo, and I nearly overbalance and fall over him. The others go into the bedrom or wait on the landing. He is also right behind me when I am in the kitchen doing anything, and although the others will come into another room, this one sticks to me like sh*t to a blanket. No particular reason, don't know if he is scared of missing something or just feels he is my 'special' boy although I obviously treat them all alike. The times I tread on his feet or fall over him, I will break my neck one day.
