Has anyone noticed spiders are getting bigger? I moved my tumble dryer earlier tonight and out charged the biggest meatiest beast I've ever seen, the thing had muscley legs and a body like a potato....ok, slight exaggeration on the body, but it were really big and I swear I thought I could make out fangs on it's big scary head.

Unluckily for Arnold Spidernegger, my dog also saw it bounding across the kitchen floor, ran over and ate it, but it's got me thinking......

If these things are marching up and down my house then its a good job my dog likes spiders cos I ain't lying when I say it were a good 3 inches long at least. and fat with it. I don't wanna go to sleep now cos of the thought of waking up with summat like THAT crawling on me face..

So, the reason I'm leavin a Q is in Body & Soul at midnight is, ain't it strange how a 28yr old bloke can suddenly develop a case of arachnophobia and insomnia?!?!? Anyone else had a similar experience? And do ya agree that spiders are gettin bigger?!?!

Hahahahahaha I apologise now coz I saved it :-/

Cheers WM at least it took me mind off moths n spiders lol
I must be the only one around here who found the picture of that guy much scarier than the two camel spiders, although none of them were very pretty :-)

PS I like normal sized spiders - they catch flies !
Are any of you guys/gals like me, closing all the windows before it rains or storms, the time when the big and little critters come inside (they know it - and don't want to get wet)?

If not, you always find them in the bath or basin.......

I use one of those bug catchers (at arms length), but generally come unstuck when I collar one on the ceiling...I can't reach up high enough to close the trap door!! DOH !!
i have got this plug thing that you stick in the wall socket & it sends an electric pulse through the wiring of the house which repels insects & rodents (does not hurt them, but it irritates their nervous system so they go away. would be a bit like a human not being able to stand amonia). anyway its brilliant. might see a little diddy sprider every few months but i can handle that. only problem is in the first 2 weeks of using it, it draws all the little critters out from their hiding places in your home so your nerves are shot as they're everywhere!
what made me get the plug was finding a spider in my bedroom (so big i could not get a pint glass over it!). it actually ran on my boyfriend which is creepy as they dont usually go near humans, it ran & hid under my bed & i could not find it, but as it was really late there was nothing i could do so i had to go asleep with it still in the room. i woke up an hour later with it on the wall by my head & nearly died of fright!
-anyone else really itchy thinking about it?
proposal accepted..I will do anything for a bit of steak lol

Lol @ Goodsoulette......although because ya took so long answering ya missed the steak......but I can stretch to a pot noodle and a bottle of rola cola!!!

And muppetteer - where'dya get these here plug thingys ya talk about???????
Im a working woman, I cant spend all night waiting for the offers to roll in (of which they do, of course). I dont need the pot noodle tonight I have had my fill of moths. Now washing it down with a bud and chilling to beth orton.

Can you move slugs??? I hate slugs almost as much as I hate spiders and rabbits.
pest stop 2000 from edirectory.co.uk

as i said though- expect to see an increace in 1st few weeks. really works after that though.

Slugs are actually my speciality, I have a pair of shiny pointed winklepicker shoes that I've discovered make really good slugflingers......

We've got it nailed between us Goodsoulette, my dog can tackle the spiders, you can eat the moths and I'll be the slug specialist..... And another thing, I've heard of some strange phobias, But Rabbits????? Whats that all about then lol
I dunno they just freak me out(not all rabbits though *wink wink*). I had sort of forgotten about it till my dad got some cause his missus likes them. The white ones with red eyes are the worst. I nearly cried when he tried to give it to me.

How big is your dog?would he eat a tarantula? does he like cats?

*ahem*

Mike I thought I was getting the dog??
sniff sniff... I smell a frog. We are keeping the dog.
lol@goods ssssssssshh ;)
I'm moving out of home in a few months for the first time ever at the ripe old age of 29, and I must admit that the one thing that is really worrying me is having to deal with huge spiders when I'm all on my lonesome! I'm hoping for a very understanding and fearless neighbour who doesn't mind being called on at any hour of the day or night to get rid of a huge and hairy monster, because I am absolutely terrified of them! Otherwise I'll have to keep all my doors and windows shut in an effort to keep them out!

I was on my own in the house a few years ago and was busy cleaning upstairs. I took the hoover upstairs and started to go back down for something, and noticed the biggest, meanest spider I had ever seen sitting, bold as you please, on the sloping wall above my stairs. The thought that two minutes earlier I'd walked right underneath it and not even noticed it shot my nerves to pieces! I couldn't bring myself to scurry underneath it to get downstairs, so I was forced to watch for a passer-by from a bedroom window! At last I spotted my neighbour, who I yelled at to please get rid of the b****y thing, which he did, bless him! When he'd gone, I sat and cried!!
Hi mike thought I better come back here to say hello. Excellent music shoice yourself : ) not quite as excellent as mine though lol
I got three of those bl**dy moths in my kitchen at the same time, I thought the bats were invading.
I also had about 6 of those beasty spiders in the last 2 weeks alone, all in my bedroom.

I have ivory all the way up the front of my house by the way, loads of bugs and spiders climb up and in the window.
I have a system, I put plastic pot over spider, slide card underneath, tape string to pot, put pot on outside windows ledge, remove card, shut window and pull on string. And voila, zi spiduerr iss gonne!
i think its got something to do with global warming, alot of things i know get slapped with the global warming tag but u dont get many large breeds in colder climates,
lol @james i love ur little pharse at the end "voila,zi spidueer iss gonnne!" haha made me laugh when i red that
