Has there been a spate of unusually large spiders in Britain this year? Nothing exotic - just the normal garden or house variety? The transitional months between summer and august always produce a few 'mutant' spids, but there seems to be a plague of the buggers this year. As a hopeless arachnaphobe, I'm at my wit's end!

I too have noticed a lot more - possibly due to the unusally warm weather Sept/Oct?
Luckily I dont mind spiders but my husband does.  We tend to get a lot of spiders in our house, however this year I have noticed that their are far more, and that they are far bigger.  One that we caught was the size of my hand.  I have also noticed that their are lots of mosquitos about perhaps their is more food available as the cold hasnt really set in yet.
