Well, its just another species in the primate groupe. We know a lion a tiger and a pussy cat are all cats, but distinctly different.

There is no such animal as a monkey (single word). The word "Monkey" describes a group of animals, same as Dog or Horse.


The Baboon is in the monkey family, as is the Spider Monkey, Red Howler Monkey, and so on. Even Tamarins and Marmosets are in the Monkey family.


"Apes" are part of the same suborder but do differ from monkeys. They are more like humans than Monkeys.


The Monkey group generally have tails, the Apes do not.


Apes consist of gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans and gibbons.

Twycross Zoo is a great place to see Monkeys and Apes. They have LOADS of them.


It is just north of Birmingham.
