Since the most interesting thread of the day went up in a puff of smoke, let's talk dinner.

Stir fry here with spicy satay sauce. I wanted seafood paella but he wants that tomorrow.

What a delightful thread. It must be a whole week since we had one of these. I'm in ecstasy.

G&T and a bag of crisps, JD? I think I might join you ;-)
I'm planning a meal for adults so probably best if I don't put any details here for fear of censure or worse.
Question Author
Can you tell I'm bored. The young man of the house is snoring his head of and I don't know where the old fossil has gone.

We were supposed to be going for a walk around the park, and then I was going to lure him into the pub.
Lionshead meatballs. Minced pork mixed with ginger, garlic, spring onions plus soy and sesame oil...simmered in chicken stock with shredded cabbage added. Yum.
Question Author
That sounds nice, Pasta. I'm a bit boring where meatballs are concerned. They generally go into an Italian-style tomato sauce or a kofta curry.
Don't know. We are going out with my parents in honour of my father's birthday. V nice restaurant that I haven't been to for about 10 years so I have high hopes of some delicious food!
Oooh...I've not made koftas in ages. I've put them on my dinner wish list. ;-)
I may go out in the rain with Sally...now that adult discussion has gone down the drain on here...again.
Home made Lamb Madras with basmati rice.

Sounds good, BM. I've got a very nice restaurant booked for next month for our first wedding anniversary.

That sounds lovely, Danny. Just up my street. I think I'll have to make my satay sauce pretty spicy in order to hit the spot.
Got my lovely ex and a few other folks coming down for the weekend, so bar-b if the weather holds or Pizza or take out but hopefully lots of fun around the food whatever.
I'm emptying the sitting and dining room to have new carpets laid...so by tonight I'll be exhausted and will happily eat anything that anyone wants to bring me.....not tripe though......

It's when you have to move stuff you realise just how much you have and that you didn't really need new carpets... :-(
No idea. I might have steak diane if I can convince someone to go to the shop and get brandy.
Question Author
Moving things around and getting new carpets is a bit of a nightmare. Says she who is going to view a house tomorrow...
Should be a good night. Only downside is my toxic ex is known to frequent the hotel. I have an "ignore" setting. Others don't......
A choice o f asparagus soup with dormouse dumplings or Phoenix liver pate and manna gathered from the plains of Zion
For a fish course, megaladon fishcakes and a delicate sauce made from the golden apples of the Hesperides and a choice of manatee steak in pimento and saffron sauce with unseasonable vegetables or unicorn poo risotto , a dessert of oh I'm bored already. You can have a magnum or a cornetto.
Question Author
The phoenix liver pate isn't much cop, Rowan. Try the seared breast of Mauritian Dodo. Goes beautifully with the Chateau Petrus.
Do Sainsburys sell it or do I need to pop to Waitrose
Question Author
BM, if toxic ex happens to be there, he'll doubtless see you all loved up. Linings, silver clouds and all that.
Never let an ex see you sad....
