...and tonight when I took a nightcap onto the patio before an early night what did I find?

A HEDGEHOG! At last....and today of all days when I had been so dispirited and feeling a tad low!

But what was hedgie doing.....chasing a frog....so I multi task.....food in a bowl for the hedgie and a net to rescue froggie into the pond.....with a towel and plank in case hedgie goes in after it.

And what is the lady normally in black wearing tonight as she charges around the just watered garden? New white floaty trousers.......which are now wet and mud splattered....should have taken them off.....but hey....I have a hedgehog visiting....

Now that is more than bliss!!!! :-)

A night in white armour gness... Glad hedgehog made your day! x
Worth waiting for though, we have them here - I recall one comical one that would freeze every time you moved, as if by stopping he was no longer visible.
That is lovely Gness, shame about the trousers, Though I am sure they will wash.
I have a hedgie too !
Have you got Boaty's permission to act as AB's deputy hedgehog correspondent?

We take hedgehogs seriously here in Suffolk though ;-)

One of the loveliest sites I've seen (when, annoyingly, I didn't have a camera handy) was many years ago when I opened my front door to see my cat happily munching away at the food in his bowl on the step, with both a hedgehog and a blackbird happily tucking into it too!
Tonight my neighbour rang me about 7.30 to come out and see a very large peahen slowly strutting around our courtyard. I've seen one before (elsewhere) but my neighbour was dumbstruck! It eventually wandered off into the village...

It has made my day....had so many in my last garden....nothing here for six years.....till now!

Well worth it, Mamya....hope he stays as I miss them..... :-)

Ah well, I'll chop them into shorts if they don't clean up, Marval...or hedgehog bedding?
I've said this before - I am terrified of them.

We were overrun with hundreds of them about 6 years ago. They were everywhere. Darting from one garden to the other.

Perhaps our can email each other, Minty.... ;-)

Boaty's a tough chap.....but me as a deputy, Chris?!
That was a lovely sight, Chris.....I once found my daughter sitting in the hall looking at a hedgehog through the glass door....I hated having to tell her it was the cap MrG had dropped on his way in.... :-)

GG...was it making that lovely noise that peahens do?
Question Author
Oh no, Conne! I would love to be overrun with them....we need to take care of our hedgehogs....x

Not after I'd caught the frog, Chrissa...... I looked more like a Jackson Pollock!
No sounds at all, gness, it was too busy searching for something. It nearly walked into my neighbour's house, as she had her door open!

I have only one superstition......peacock feathers......I could never have them in the house......
A chap gave my little son some once....luckily at the garden gate....I took them into the back garden and buried them.....x
I'm sooooo jealous. What a wonderful thing to have happened.
Wish I'd a hedgehog. It'd gorge itself sick on the masses of slugs and snails.
Hedgehogs are my most favourite animal - if you have them in your garden it's supposed to mean that you are lucky. I read something recently that said if you see a hedgehog about in the day at this time of year to leave it alone - it could be a thirsty/hungry new mum. We used to have a season ticket for Mrs Tiggywinkles, my most favourite place. I'm actually jealous of you.

Hi, Helly and OG....all went quiet last night but it ate all the food I put out...
I have stocked up on hedgie food today and set up my wildlife camera so I hope for some nice pictures in the morning....

OG....it can eat as many snail and slugs as it likes...fed up with them!

Just keep hoping, Sherr......I had almost given up on having one in this garden....but hey! He/she arrived.....fingers crossed for tonight...x
You could get a hedgehog house and try to encourage it to stay - we had one in Aylesbury and it got lived in.
Question Author
Sherr...I made one some time ago.....ended up putting a stone hedgehog in it.....I do have a hedgehog friendly garden so I hope it likes it and stays...x
