Reading in the shade overlooking the gardens there was a sudden commotion.....looking up three gold crests were heading for my face....
Now I adore birds but splat in my face is not on so I ducked...
The birds did an emergency stop and flew off.....but something had gone down my back inside my strappy top...it's hot here....

I sat up, wriggled a bit and over my shoulder appeared an enormous and beautiful cricket.....
He nuzzled my cheek, thanked me for saving him from the birds so I popped him in the shrubs by the door....bliss...... :-)

No, Baz....but amazingly a sparrow came and rootled around just where I'd put the cricket....he must be tasty....x

crickets are tiny.

I had no idea Goldcrests hunt in packs.

It probably shuffled away thinking - what she looking at me like that for - she's lucky - she's got a freezer full of dinners - me , i have to fly my butt off each day looking for food

You may be right, Talbot....I can't find a picture of anything...grasshopper or cricket.....that looks like this one...
Now I feel guilty, Baz...... :-(
