Unfortunately the reality is that your dog will die.
Enjoy your time with your dog and when it eventually happens, mourn and move forward.
According to this calculator, your dog is, unfortunately, already equal in age to a human of 70 or more years. So, your dog is an old-age pensioner!

I understand totally that you want your dog to live as long as you. Our Labrador was diagnosed with cancer yesterday. She already has chest full of secondaries and has been given 2-4 weeks. We will treat her as normal and grieve after she has gone. Love your dog while you have him/her.
So sorry to read that, jakep. I hope your dog doesn't suffer.
CuriousMike... it is obvious you've taken excellent care of your dog as it is already a very great age.
Letting them go is the best thing you can do for them when it's at that stage. It's heartbreaking to do so but it's what they'd do for you.
