first the fridge freezer was making strange noises so called in the hotpoint people, who said can't be fixed, will give you a new one, so they did.
just a few short weeks later the electricity in one circuit died, so i had to call out the
emergency electrician at the council, who came along and pronounced that the washing machine was causing the short circuit. so next came the washing machine man who said it was the the heater caused by limescale, so that was replaced, now its working. so far so bad.
went to turn on the hob on the cooker last night and it failed to ignite, so had to go through a rigmarole of getting hotpoint engineers out tomorrow to see if it can be fixed. Had to take on extra insurance with them as well, as if the cooker can't be fixed they promised to provide me with a new cooker.
so very stressful, so apologies if i am offloading.

any stress if your life you would like to tell me about...

thank you alba, the last straw was the cooker, luckily the oven and grill still work otherwise i really would be up a gumtree.
never rains but it pours.

Some years back a SIL had her oven go on the blink, then the video machine then the telly, all about 3 weeks before Chrimbo, she was not a happy bunny.
I think machines occasionally just decide to go on holiday and stuff their owners.
Very rude of them.
It's really annoying when everything goes wrong at once. Just last month I had to get a new washing machine, dishwasher and a man in to fix the jammed up Insinkerator. Thankfully, everything's working now. I hope you get your things back to normal soon.

so do i, its been a painful, lots of stress experience, not to mention the cost, and the waiting in for the experts to show up.
mind you the weather isn't up to much so i don't mind staying in.
I love Insinkerator !

Was without a freezer for over a year, we coped, got a 'new' one eventually and then we discovered how much we had missed the thing.

Do hope everything gets sorted Emmie xx

alba so do i, wish they could have come out today, at least get it over with, if it can't be fixed, they promised me a new one.
I'm not sure if I've been lucky or just forgetful but I cannot recall ever having an appliance breakdown on me.

mine have been pretty good, the washing machine is only two years old, so have bought some limescale remover from hotpoint. one years worth for just under 16 quid.

any stress if your life you would like to tell me about

Yes ... the tight *#$#* that went into Aldi this morning for our snap has bought the equivalent of Billy Bear ham :0 (
I had to replace my fridge, cooker (a range style one) dishwasher, washing machine and microwave all in about a year. I also ordered a food processor which doesn't work and they didn't reply to my emails and I've lost the blade to my mini blender which I've only used once.

The toaster is playing games now!
the former Eccles, the former :-) x

I've gone through gawd knows how many irons, deep fat fryers, microwaves, kettles.

Only 2 beds tho, for some strange reason....

ummm

that's not good, confess that i couldn't do without the fridge freezer, the old one was good and more than 10 years old i think.
You're too kind Alba.

I have a vision of Ummmms toaster playing Twister with the kettle in the dead of night!

Emmie bung some soda crystals in with your wash to keep a check on the lime scale.
Aww, Emmie. I think most of us have had times like that. One thing after another. It is very stressful, especially if you are a little bit under par. Like you said, at least you got the oven and grill. Hope they get it fixed tomorrow for you. Maybe they'll give you a new one. :-)

was going to do that, but i bought some descaler off the hotpoint people. i was told to use one sachet a month
so will last me all year.
but will bear in mind the soda crystals.

my cooker is more than 10 years old, probably a lot more, i can't remember, but its had no problems bar once, which i consider a good deal. its was expensive at the time, but has been fine till now.

The bit in the OP about the Hob reminded me of living in Wroxham in Norfolk the day after the Hurricane in '87, Neighbours were moving to the house next door on the other side to us, as no family could get to them to help 'cus of fallen trees etc they were carrying their bits and pieces between the houses, I walked outside to have a smoke, took my coffee with me. Mrs Neighbour saw the mug, walked over and asked 'Have you got power, our electrics off?' They had the same set-up as we had, Gas Hob, Electric Oven, they were both smokers but had not thought to do what we did and light the Hob with a Match
My how we laughed later ;o)

the gas isn't coming through the hob, its just dead as a dodo.
i had to clean it all as well, as it was quite filthy.
