A couple of hours ago we had to take Eddie, our great big Dobie Dog to our Vets to be PTS. Age caught up with him, his back end has been a bit wobbly for a while now, he was a big lad 31" at the shoulder and 54kgs, and his back legs just went from under him fortunately in the garden not out for a walk.
We've had him for just over 11 years since he was 8 weeks old and couldn't have asked for a nicer Dog, he will be sadly missed. First time we've been without a Dog for about 25 years, it's going to be strange.
When the time is right we will be doing the rounds of the local rescues there will be a suitable hound (or two) out there somewhere for us I'm sure.

I'm sorry too, that's both of them gone quite close together isn't it? I feel for you both, you'll be bereft. I'm always of the opinion get another dog/cat as soon as you want.x

I remember when my Pusscat died in December and you were so supportive towards me. I know how you feel and I will be thinking of you tonight. It's not easy, is it?
Sad time but wonderful memories.
sorrym Baldric, never a fun moment. Y
Sorry, the pc keyboard playing up.....take your time, memories and all that, and you have the move to complete...and then you will be ready to find that new mate.
I was actually think about Eddie earlier, I saw a pic of his breed on t'internet earlier.

It is sad to have an empty house, but he had a good life with his dog sister and cat boss.

Best wishes to you and Mrs B x

Thanks all from mrs B and myself.
DTC that's the plan, get the move out of the way then when we're ready we'll go looking.
Very sad for you all, Baldric, time is a healer they say, but right now it doesn't feel like it, will be thinking of you xx
Baldric, so sorry to hear about Eddie. So sad when we have to lose our beloved pets. It's going to be difficult for a while missing that familiar energy around the house. Know he didn't go alone, he took yours and Mrs B's love with him......
That's sad news, my best wishes to you & Mrs B - RIP Eddie.
When I started a new job a colleague wasn't present as she was grieving for her dog. I thought what a sap a 'dog' for god sake! Then I got a dog and I completely understood.
