I want to be cremated but wonder about my soul. What point in your opinion does the soul escape the body at death? Immediately? Also, which religions frown on cremation?

RCs do not like it but I understand in Italy at least they are relaxing this (because they are running out of space to bury people). As for when the soul escapes the body, nobody knows, but my guess is, the moment you are dead (?!?) so presumably, a while before they cremate you.
You are making a lot of assumptions here . . . who's to say you have a soul that escapes the body at death?
So if your burned alive then is your soul buggered?
If you choose to believe in a soul (I do not), it is a matter of absolute certainty that it must be an ethereal 'body' - were it to be constructed of matter, scientists would have found 'em and pinned them to a board for us to gawp at. It also therefore follows that therefore it cannot be subject to material laws, and therefore, it seems ludicrous to think cremation would affect it one iota.

ok here goes.... I am a spiritualist person and believe that when a person passes away the soul / spirit stays with its body for no more than an hour or two .... hope this helps :-)
