Oh ruddy 'ell. Have I left it that late to go to bed again?

Good morning, Jan.
Question Author
Hi Chris xx Yes, you should be in beddy byes by now.
Agreed, but I felt sorry for this little bottle of Belgian beer which looked lonely in my kitchen. (At 9.5% ABV, it's probably a good thing that it was all alone though!)
Morning everyone :)
Still have not gone to sleep as I can't at moment but oh well.
Hope you all have a great day xxx

Morning Suzy xx
BC. Which Belgian beer was it? I love their dark beers.
Question Author
^^ sorry, suezy
Question Author
I love the Trappistes Rochefort. I think that may be 11.5% !
No need to say sorry Janbee :)
Hope you're well.
Yawns are taking over so gonna try get an hour or two

Take care everyone xxx
Question Author
Ok suezy. Sleep well. Nice to chat to you xx
Most Trappist beers are lovely, Jan.

This is a limited edition 'triple hop' Duval though, which (in addition to the two different hops used in the primary brewing process) is lated-hopped as well. It's remininiscent of a good wheat beer but with far more 'clout'.

Love the pic of your little dog. Is he/she a westie?

Oh BC, you make me want to get back to Bruges asap and sample a few more. I was there in Dec and tried a few , well you have to don't you?
^^^Apologies for seeming to ignore SS24, above. (I'm trying, and failing, to multi-task at the moment).

This bottle cames from Bruges, Jan. My friend was there just before Christmas and brought a few bottles back for me. (This is the last one).

It was his birthday on Saturday and his birthday present from me included some Belgian beer from a province that goes by the name of 'Waitrose' ;-)
Question Author
Ah yes Waitrose, is that a province to the north of Bruges with many aisles instead of canals?
It is indeed, Jan. At least those aisles don't smell as bad as some of the waterways in Bruges do (possibly unless you get too close to the cheese counter when their refrigeration has failed!).

Waitrose is actually about a 30-mile round trip for me but it's definitely worth the journey when I want to find some decent beer. This is what was included in my friend's present (along with some good British beer as well):

Thanks for that info. I'll look out next time I'm in W/Rose. I really do love a really strong dark beer and it's always good to get "tips".

Where is everyone this morning? Where is Lord Boatman of the Waves?
Well I'm off to bed now (which actually means crashing out on the sofa and being attacked by five cats, taking it in turn to keep me awake) but, if you'll settle for a slightly lower ABV (of around 5%), but still with loads of flavour, you might like to look out for Shepherd Neame's porter, which Sainsbury's sell as their own-brand 'London Porter' and Asda sell as their own-brand 'Whitechapel Porter'. It's superb. (I had a bottle just before drinking this Belgian beer. They were the only two bottles of beer I'd got in the house).

Similarly, if you get into a Wetherspoon's house in the near future you might come across an American (I joketh not!) porter on draught, brewed in this country by Adnams. There are two versions, 'Importer' (4.2% ABV - excellent!) and 'Exporter' (6.2% ABV - untried by me but others say that it's great).

Another strong-flavoured beer I've recommended on AB recently (and which seems to have got Tonyav addicted to it!) is Marston's Oyster Stout, which you can find in Tesco. (4.5% ABV).

Good night!
Question Author
Thanks again. I've copied out all those names and details and shall look out for them.
Sleep well, or as well as a bunch of cats will let you. xx
