I have had a rescue dog for 10 years. He is a Jack Russell Terrier/staffordshire bull terrier.

He likes to spend most of the time on his own. If we enter a room he is in, he will leave the room. He stays upstairs most of the day. We try to coax him to sit with us but he does not want to. Sometime he does not bother to greet us when we return to the house after a couple of hours absence. He was not an over loving dog when we first got him but he has become more withdrawn lately. Could you please tell me the possible cause of this behaviour.

Thank you.

My labrador of 10 years began behaving like this , i am not sure if it is the same for you but , he liked to be in dark places on his own, we found out it is due to a dog version of a miagraine. (which apparently is agonising for a dog) So they prefer to be left alone. Hope this helps
