There's a tough looking chap, you know the sort, nose squashed all over his face, who regularly walks his SBT down to the local paper shop, ties him up outside and disappears into the shop. The SBT doesn't take his eyes off the paper shop door. Chap reappears with a bar of chocolate which he then feeds to his dog and off they go happily up the road. I've been trying to pluck up the courage to say something for ages. The dog seems OK though. Miracle really.
Years ago before we knew chocolate was bad for dogs, my parents, and me as a child, used to feed our dogs chocolate, one in particular loved white chocolate and had it often as a treat. All our dogs lived to ripe old ages. Of course I wouldn't dream of feeding it to my dog now, I guess it's the luck of the draw, like some people can get cancer from smoking and some can smoke for years and years with no side effects.
I only know of Rescue Remedies same as you through the Oldies Club website, but they do often ask for help homechecking or transporting and feature regularly on the facebook groups I belong to for rehoming groups. Reading their blurb they do seem to do a good job with the not so easy to rehome dogs, so if you get one you will be helping a very worthy cause. Good luck, let us know how you get on.
Thanks for your thoughts lankeela. Yes Rescue Remedies do seem to do some good work and runs on a shoestring apparently. Well been talking to them today and I have offered and been approved to take poor little 15 year old JRT Jess whose family took her to the vet to be PTS and the vet couldn't do it. She had a mouth full of rotten teeth when she arrived with RR but she's just had 14 taken out which has given her a new lease of life. She has liver problems and she weighs just 4.5kg. But I shall treasure her for as long as she's got IF the incumbent JRT approves of her. We are going to meet Jess in the morning and I do hope he behaves himself with her. BTW lankeela, the lady holding Jess in the video runs RR.

I've got her, I've got her. She was all shivery and showing her snaggly teeth. Himself behaved with her so she's home here now. I paid the £150 for her and the rescue lady said I am going to give this right back to you just for taking her on at her age and with her troubles. And, do you know what (excuse me while I straighten my halo), I said keep it and rescue another dog. She hugged me bless her. So Little Jess had a potter round the flat, piddled on the floor, wet her bed, ate some hand-fed some beef and a few prawns and now she's fast asleep! The cat took one look and went back to sleep, so really the best we could have hoped for I think. Be warned: pictures will follow soon! Yippee! Oh, she did bring another little 18 year old JRT with her that I think she was hoping I would take as well but that was a step too far. If I had a house rather than a flat then I would have:-)

Having to hand-feed her for now. We've just been out and she's done what she had to and is now rearranging her bed to suit. Hope she sleeps the night through. She wagged her tail tonight for the first time - think she might approve of me, that's a relief.
