if within the visible spectrum light is refracted by a prism, what about higher or lower frequencies outside of visible do all forms of emr share the characteristics of refraction( I know it is babble but do get my drift)?

refraction is a property of waves, and as such, all of the em spectrum can be refracted if you consider it composed of waves.
lower frequencies are refracted, more higher frequences less, hence you can use ELF to communicate with submarines underwater but microwave communications are, more or less, line of sight.
Sorry I was thinking of diffraction which causes those properties I listed

yes, I think the first inkling that there was infra red was that they got a heat meter that sort of went bling bling across the spectrum and got faster as it went into the red area. And to everyone ones surprise the heat meter went bling bling bling just beyond the red spectrum showing that it was sort of hotter in the infra red area.

I learnt this at skool fifty years ago, so its kinda shaky now
