Calling Humbersloopy.

You asked me for a Haiku on the subject of water.

Well here we go and I hope you like it. First a little image:

Sloopy's Sanctuary

The Humber
ever peaceful
meanders its way to the Sea

Dark and foreboding
its depths full
of stories and history

But there in the reeds
near The Bridge
lies the river’s glory,

The water is light
like air under floating wood
peaceful, still and calm

Sloopy’s serene haven
a place to reflect
on matters nautical

And her life at hand
serenity dwells here
the water proving alogical

Ideas, dreams and action
shaped amongst the reeds
But still, the water meanders it way to the Sea.

Question Author
I know the Barrow area reasonably well, sloopy, though it has been a long while since I was there..
Question Author
Lovely pics by the way.

Have you been to the Lakes National Maritime Museum, just north of Bowness on Windermere on Rayrigg Road? they have some lovely vessels inc. Uncle Jim's houseboat from Ransome's Swallows and Amazons.
Question Author
I am cracking up thinking Furness, not Lincolnshire.....Duh......the only place near you that I know reasonably well is Beverley, as I had an aunt who lived there.
Not to worry :)
Not spent much time in the lakes at all, that sounds interesting.
There's some keen flikr folk round here, they like the haven
And your next haiku, should you choose to accept it, is on air.

oi tony, ^^, I resemble that remark!
Question Author
the sun may be not be bright on the landscape
but that Cornish or Humber air feels crisp and wet
our hair is moist and damp, try and escape

this land so normally mild
its air moderate, water not too much
the year of 2012 ever so wild

its AB people normally bright and cheery
driven on by Jemisa and marvel airs;
despondency now in Body and Soul, just so teary

a move to Cornwall or the Humber
breathe in the air so salty and inspiring
ABers heavy hearts and minds to unencumber

our air truly matters; ozone and sulphur free
to enable us to deeply contemplate;
a sea, a lake or mountain top, to the air guide me

to seek out the purest zephyr
breathe our country and air in
our minds set free as a feather

ABers free at heart, their opinions and stories earned
reflecting our lives, our families and interests
minds fueled on seascape air; an air that you and I forever yearn.
Nice.
Save this for tomorrow, proper haiku mind, earth.

With respect Dt. They are not haiku.
Question Author
not in the true sense, tilly, but I am not going to start counting in consonants with due respect - the three line verse is part of the format though.

If you wish to give us a proper example, using my text as a base, please feel free to contribute.
Question Author
And I hope your Japanese is good........
Question Author
old Humber River water
a Phyllis sails by,
