We have been to Newstead Abbey in Notts, a really lovely place, peaceful walks round the lake and parkland, looked at the herbaceous borders and formal gardens. Only costs £6 per car including all passsengers - such brilliant value! Had a tasty lunch in the courtyard cafe. A really nice day ..................... a little treat of a day out while the weather lasts!
Have you been anywhere in the sunshine today? Commiserations to those at work! I worked for 41 years and now I love being retired.

Nowhere special Ann, but I have my 7 year old grandaughter staying with me and she was "helping out" in the garden. Got 3 lawns cut and a bit of weeding done. Beautiful and peaceful in the sunshine, so a day well spent.
Glad you have had a nice day Ann and def a bargain for £6 and congrats on the retirement may it be long and happy x

Yes maggie I just love this weather, don't you? The sunshine really lifts the spirits, pity they are forecasting it to end very soon :(
It was my nephew's 2nd birthday today so we all went round to my brother's and had a BBQ in the sun. It was lovely. That's the only place I have been today lol.

LOL@weecalf :)
You're welcome Ann and jealous of you and maggie and vodka because in Cumbria we are just getting the rain.
Mum's flat this morning to paint her kitchen then wifey to the local hospital for an appointment.
At least I know that my hands are clean. :)

Poor you in Cumbria, having rain! Hot and very sticky indoors here in the Midlands. Still 21 deg here at 9.45pm, got all windows open, think I will go outside and cool off on the garden seat! Not complaining though!
It is sill 27 deg here in Milton Keynes.
My garden. Bribe myself, 20 minutes weeding then 10 minutes reading. Worked well until I got catnapped. No idea where the the cat comes from but it insisted on sitting on my lap whilst I was trying to read. Looks well fed and healthy, just wanting lots of attention. Wound itself around my legs when I went back to weeding. Gave up!
We went to Wimpole House a National Trust property just South West of Cambridge. Lovely buildings, formal and walled gardens, large amount of open parkland for picnics etc.
Used the restaurant which only uses produce grown on the estate for lunch.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and the traffic was not too bad.
MMM stop rubbing it in ! and enjoy your garden seat ! not that I'm jealous gonna go and put the heating on now more profits to British Gas grrrr x
Question Author
Thanks Slackalice, have made a note of Wimpole House, we will go if and when the National Trust put on another "Free Days" event as its only just over an hour from us.
