Cat seen- Not sure if it's a stray

Hi, there's a gray cat that I saw a couple days ago, with blue eyes. It's gray-blue in color. Does anybody know what knind of cat this is? Also, I'm very sure it is a housepet, because I walked past it and it didn't move. (I'm not stupid, I just didn't see it) I asked all the neighbors, and the only one who lost their cat said it didn't match the given description. I haven't seen any posters or the cat for a while, and I couldn't take a picture because my only camera is getting upgraded. Any advice?

Unless I was pretty sure it was a stray...looking thin, unkempt, ill, I think I would assume it was someone's cat and do nothing.
Cats wander quite long distances from their home.
If you can take it to your 'Animal Rescue' centre they will scan it to see who the owner is.
( are you in UK or USA?)

Thank you both, I'll try that.
don't be too quick to take kitty to an animal shelter - it may well be going about it's lawful business - no posters and kitty looks well - I can't see a problem - cats stroll.

okay carmalee... the thing is though, none of my neighbors own cats, apparently, other than the one who lost her cat, who, again, didn't match the description
Cats don't just stay in their own streets. They go off hunting.

I know, system, but it's extremely rare we see cats where I live....
