Plane watching

Years ago we used to be able to go to the rooftop at Heathrow, to watch the planes and have a snack. Do you know if this is still possible? Many thanks

I used to know a few places where you could park up more or less at the end of the runway and watch the planes taking of or landing right over your heads but I doubt the security services at the airports would take kindly to people parked there in this day and age.

There are still plenty of people who dice with death at the end of the runway.

They pull up at the edge of a dual carriageway, inches away from 44 tonne lorries loaded with air cargo thundering past. There is going to be a very nasty accident there one day.
