My dog quite likes Tescos Malted Milk biscuits, Is it ok to give these to him as a treat or would they be bad for him?

Thanks Divegirl/Lisa

Think he's been missing his biccy treat haha
We make all our own liver treats for our dogs, so much better for your dog, they come out like bicuits but you need to put a little more time and effort into making them, The dogs love them.
Everything except chocolate Divegirl:

The naturally occurring theobromine found in chocolate, cocoa beans, cocoa bean hulls, cola, and tea, is responsible for the poisoning effect in dogs.  Dogs are unable to metabolize this element quickly enough to prevent poisoning.  The lethal dose of this agent is determined by weight and falls roughly into the category of 250-500 milligrams per kilogram of body weight.  This equates to approximately 2/3 to 1 1/3 oz bakers chocolate for every 2.2 pounds though signs of poisoning begin to appear at a much lower ingestion levels.
What Ratter failed to mention is that they will also stink you house out...my dogs love them though :O}

Ok, so they can be a little smelly when being made, not very smelly though, never been a problem, also if you put just a little garlic it helps reduce the smell.

Its worth a little incovenience for the health of your dog :-)
My first dog ate garlic bread once - talk about colonic irrigation - his entire digestive system must have emptied within about half an hour.

He used to eat a Yorkie (chocolate bar not yappy dog) every Friday. This was before the general public knew how dangerous it could be to dogs.
I think the general public has been been aware of the dangers of chocolate since the the 70's well I was as a child anyway!
I have never given any of our dogs any sweets, cakes or biscuits or treats and have never had any fat dogs!

Wish I could say the same of myself!!
My dogs never get any processed dog food, the stuff they put in that isn't fit for any dog!! My dogs only eat raw human grade meat, bones and fish. They no longer have allergies, wind or foul smelling giant poo's and are the peak of good health. (Be aware its not quite that simple) a lot of research needs to done to get a balanced diet and to meet their digestive needs.

The greatest thing to see is the enthusiasm on their faces when the see the food :-) and guess what, it works out cheaper!!! just not so convenient.
We didn't get our present dog until she was four months, nearly five and she had only ever eaten freshly caught rabbit. Now I draw the line at going out and catching rabbits for her.
Raw rabbit is a great food for dogs but must also be fed other meats and offal and fish to keep iron levels up and fish for the very important omegas. We do actually feed our Wolfhounds an apple each everyday, they love them and they keeps their teeth sparkling white.
We used to have a veggie dog Ratter. He adored all veg and turned his nose up at meat. He was a large dog and nearly 14 when he died, so obviously his veggie diet suited him. He used to beg for whole brussell sprouts!

I often feed my dog rice and fish. She's quite a nervous dog and prone to colitis and fish and rice sorts her out. In all the years we have had dogs we have never had one die young, in fact they have all reached a great age, so we must be doing something right!!

(We eat loads of fish ourselves too! We have glossy hair and nice wet noses!! ;o) )
